Article #289 How to Check Your Operating System Version?

You can find your device's operating system version number in your Settings app. You will get notifications when updates are available for you. You can also check for updates.

For Android Devices

To check which Android version you have, proceed as follows:

1. Open your device's Settings app.
2. Near the bottom, tap System, About phone or About tablet
3. Check under Android Version or Software Version

 Get the latest Android updates available for you:

1. Open your device's Settings app.
2. Near the bottom, tap System > System update or Software Update
3. You will see your update status. Follow any steps on the screen.

For iOS Devices

To check which iOS version you have, proceed as follows:

1. Open your device's Settings app.
2. Select General
3. Select About
4. Check under Software Version

 Get the latest iOS updates available for you:

1. Open your device's Settings app.
2. Select General
3. Select Software Update
4. Follow any steps on the screen

Note: depending on your device's manufacturer, you may only be able to update 1 or 2 major versions and not the latest operating system.
