Description: When working in Solid Sales Pro, the error ‘Cache-query record [OK]’ suddenly shows, and by tapping on the [OK] button, the error changes to:
Fatal Alert
Chunk under-locked
Memory mgr.c, line 5232, chunk under-locked
[Reset]
At this point, the [Reset] button displayed on screen cannot be used to restart the handheld computer as the screen is completely frozen up.
Resolution: If the [Reset] button is being unresponsive, then the only solution to restore the handheld computer to functionality is to manually perform a Soft Rest on the unit. In typical circumstances, a soft reset is a safe method of restoring the handheld computer’s ability to function. However, in the case of the ‘Fatal Alert’ error message, there is a chance that the handheld computer may restore itself to factory settings, meaning that Solid Sales Pro and any unsynced transactions may be lost.

For those using Symbol handheld computers, Motorola has admitted that a failing or worn out battery can be the cause of this ‘Fatal Alert’ error occurring. If the batteries in the Symbol handheld computer are over 2 – 3 years old, they may need to be replaced, lest this error may become reoccurring. New batteries can be purchased from the Solid Store.
If after the Soft Reset, Solid Sales Pro is no longer on the handheld computer, then further considerations are needed.
