Description: Inside Solid Sales Pro, when trying to print anything to the printer, the handheld computer seems to freeze on the 1220 Invoice Style screen with the message, “Printing Invoice Style 8…,” displayed. At this point, none of the buttons will respond, forcing the route sales person to soft-reset the handheld computer.
Resolution: This problem is caused by a handheld computer attempting to connect to a printer via cable, but the printer is not accepting the signal. For handheld computers that print by using a wireless Bluetooth printer, this is caused by having Solid Sales Pro configured to print to a cabled printer instead of using Bluetooth settings, which causes the same situation. For handheld computers that print by using a cable, check the cable connections to both the printer and the handheld cradle, ensure that the printer is turned on and functioning correctly, and try printing again. If the problem persists, the printer cable may need replacing
For handheld computers printing by wireless Bluetooth, this is most often caused by having the incorrect printer type or configuration settings.
- For Palm O/S handheld computers, such as the Janam XP30, from the House/Applications button, choose ‘PrintSetup’. If a ‘Print Boy Wizard’ greets you, use the [Cancel] button to proceed.
- Beneath ‘Printer’, choose the printer type that best represents the printer that’s being used. Next, use the [Edit] button, and under ‘Communications’, set the Port to Bluetooth.
- Use the [OK] button to proceed, and if asked, “Would you like to make this your default printer,” select [Yes] to continue. Use [OK] once again to exit the PrintSetup screen and return to the Home menu.
- Select the ‘Sales Pro’ icon and log into Solid Sales Pro. Once on the Main Menu, tap on [Properties] and select [Printing]. Ensure that ‘Available’ is set to Wireless and use [OK], followed by [Quit], to accept this setting and return to the Solid Sales Pro Main Menu.
Solid Sales Pro is now fully configured on the handheld computer to print correctly to wireless Bluetooth printers. There is however one last thing to check within the mobile unit record, inside the Solid Route Accounting main software component, to be certain that the printer type selected for this mobile unit record is correct. Please review the section below for your Solid Route Accounting business system to complete this repair.
Enterprise Edition Users:
In Solid Business Central, navigate to [Datafile / Cost Center / Mobile] and view the mobile unit record in question. Look for the 'Printer' field, which is the fifth option down, and ensure that it’s set to the correct printer type for the printer being used. The most common types are printer type 1 for 8.5” x 11” full page impact and ink jet printers, and printer type 4 for 4” wide thermal slip printers. If a change needs to be made, use [F2 - Edit] to make changes to the record, and save them with [CTRL-END]. Sync the handheld computer for changes to take effect in Solid Sales Pro.
